LIGHT IS TIME, TIME IS LIGHT

Milan Design Week - La Triennale di Milano 8-13 April 2014 CITIZEN PRESENTS "LIGHT IS TIME"

The well-known Japanese watch debuts at Milan Fuorisalone

For the first time at Design Week all the essence of the watches CITIZEN goes on show in a spectacular space made of light and time .
Inside La Triennale di Milano CITIZEN presents "LIGHT is TIME", an art installation made up of 80,000 metal discs that float suspended in the air creating a magical and extraordinary.
The discs used are the oscillating masses , the structural elements that move the automatic mechanism inside the watch. Unique spatial orchestration that originates an area permeated by light and that, thanks to the sound and the light generated , it transmits a new perception of light and time. The visitor will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the true spirit of CITIZEN and enjoy the unique experience of its value: create , moment by moment , a new future thanks to the relationship between light and time . From the first pocket watch top model on display, the entire installation answers to one simple question: what is composed of a watch?
The project was developed by Tsuyoshi Tane DGT Architects, in collaboration with the Design Team 's internal CITIZEN .
Among the changes, along with the last model of the Japanese , it will be exposed in an exclusive pocket watch 1920 , rare example that will revive the atmosphere of the origins of the CITIZEN .

Visiting the installation and models on display , the public can better understand the multicultural spirit and allure of the design so typical of CITIZEN, that always stands out for its attention to craftsmanship and excellence. Since 1930 , the year of its foundation, CITIZEN has always aimed to expand the boundaries of watchmaking in order to make it accessible to all quality watches superiore.
Un extraordinary technological innovation, introduced in 1976 , has enabled us to develop a revolutionary system called Eco- Drive , which uses the energy generated by almost any light source to power the load of watches. Eco-Drive has eliminated the need to replace the batteries, allowing all fans to wear watches CITIZEN. "Transforming the Light in time to explore the future together ." This is the idea contained in the heart of Eco-Drive. A new concept to express the relation " x Light x Time Future". Time is light and light is time . The time is light and light is the time.
" We took inspiration from the art of watchmaking CITIZEN and eventually we came to the simplest of ideas : " Light is the time. " The light is born the instant of the Big Bang , the origin of the universe. From behind the horizon, the sun floods the land of light by moving shadows, creating the seasons and the phases of the moon. At a time when humanity has perceived this, he inadvertently created the notion of time .
LIGHT is TIME. "Building clocks that turn the light on time: this is the challenge that we have collected from CITIZEN, whose philosophy is to create " watches for all citizens of the world, "said Tsuyoshi Tane DGT .

The Light of the time in the twenty-first century

"The time is light. If there was no light , there would be no time. In the twentieth century, humans have scanned the time, they measured and continue to compress until we completely forget his relationship with light. Without light we would not have the wonders of the cosmos, the rich resources of the Earth and the pleasures of life. "Light is Time " - the act of recall light over time: this is our contribution to the concept of light of the XXI
