AN ECO FRIENDLY BEDROOM - GO FOR THE GREEN

Your bedroom is a perfect hideaway to go to after a busy and exhausting workday. Thus, itsinterior should be comfortable and able to make you enjoy many hours there. There are many ways todecorate your bedroom; the choice totally depends on your taste. You can
decorate your bedroom with a romantic, classic or even a modern motif. Have you considered choosing an eco-friendly interior for your bedroom? It is such a great idea to choose an eco-friendly interior design these days. Increased awareness to save the earth is getting attention, so this idea can contribute to our having a better planet. These are some ideas on how to decorate an eco-friendly bedroom:

1. A good way to start is by improving your bedroom’s insulation. If you hire an interior designer, you can ask him how to improve the insulation. Good insulation depends on the construction materials used and how well the cracks around the windows are filled. It is important to improve the insulation because it helps you conserve energy and save money on your energy bills.

2. Choose the right bedding and blankets. When winter comes, you may rely on your heating system to make your room warmer. However, this habit consumes more energy, so you can consider the use of a thicker blanket as an alternative. A thick blanket will help trap your body heat better so that you don’t need to set your thermostat as high. Since the bed is the most visible item in your room, choosing attractive blankets and bedding will also help to improve the room’s appearance. Your blanket and bedding are your personal statements of taste.

3. Create good circulation. In designing a bedroom, you should position the doors and windows properly in order to create air movement. Also, use a ceiling fan instead of an air conditioner. A ceiling fan can also be used in winter to bring warmer air down from where it collects near the ceiling.

4. Pay attention to the lighting. If you hope to have a room that will be energy-efficient, use CFL or CompactFluorescent Lamps. These lamps are much more efficient than incandescent light bulbs.

5. Choose an eco-friendly mattress. Usually you only consider comfort when choosing a mattress. However, the materials can be just as important as comfort. It is recommended to choose a mattress that is made from safe, natural materials like wool. Latex mattresses are also good options.

6. Choose organic linens. Organic linens are better than the commercial cotton sheets since they don’t go through a series of chemical processes. Commercial cotton may feel softer on your skin but the softness is achieved with some negative impact to the environment.
